WELCOME TO STARGATE SG8

SG8 was started in 2003 and has provided an entertaining environment for our simmers for the last seven years. In the year 2008, due to technological issues as well as surplus in size, SG8 was split into three smaller sims: SG5, SG7, and of course, SG8. Prospective members are encouraged to view through all three sims to see which one best suits their simming needs. Each have tried to distinguish themselves individually, while maintaining small parts of what made SG8 the great community that it was.

Here's a rough break down of the other two sims:

SG5: Strongly based in pseudo science (puzzles), with military action coming in second, and character emphasis third. Rating: G-PG13; SG5 CURRENTLY ON HIATUS

SG7: Full of military action for the fast paced writer, with enough puzzles to keep you on your toes. Rating: G-PG13

Here at SG8, we pride ourselves with our character driven stories and story arcs, which are also heavily filled with puzzles and enough action to keep the masses happy. However, we are an adult rated site (NC18), and expect adult like discretion from our simmers. That being said, no one under 18 may view the material on this site due to mature content! If you are not 18, then you do not have permission to view this site.

But other than that, welcome to SG8.

Major Gavin Davenport
Commanding Officer, SG8

LET IT BE NOTED: We have reached our maximum quota, and are not accepting submissions at this time. Thank you. (January 2011)

The SG-8 team is currently returning to Zulu Base after having been MIA for six months. Bodies and minds battered and drained, the team is recuperating individually, with a few new faces around base.

Fast forward another year, and the team is deemed "mission ready" once again. What new adventures lie in wait for the Zulu's favorite underdogs?

SG-8 is apart of a group of games in the SLA. Check out the rest of the SLA Stargate Command games.

The forum for SG-5,7, and 8 can be found here: Mess Hall. All are encouraged to join up and is a place for the community aspect of SG-8 before the split.

Official Retirement Announcement

Hey Gang,

Tired of kidding myself that I have free time, and with how my life is going at the moment, time to focus on real life and put the muses in storage until things straighten out again. I've already informed the SLA of my decision, and if any of you are still around and interested in simming, let me know, and I can forward your emails to Tavey and she will get in contact with you guys for other sims that are looking for players or you can ask her what's around that is more your flavor.

As for SG8, since nobody wants to pick up the reins over here, our sim is being put away on a shelf until a time that somebody wants to run it again (which will not be me).

It's been fun ride, but as I've been saying for about a year now: all good things must come to an end. This is your neighborhood CO signing off, wishing you all good luck on your future endeavors.

Gah, I apologize for not writing any posts here guys. I've been getting hit with project after project nonstop here at school this semester, and since I live in Wisconsin, if you guys have been reading/paying attention to the news here in the States, yeah....lots of distractions going on right now.

I can't make any promises on when I'll be able to get a post out, seeing as my Gavin muse has decided he has more fun tackling Grizzlies in the mountains that writing a post for me, but hopefully I'll be able to rein him in sooner rather than later.

Hope this email finds everybody well, and I wouldn't mind a role call from everybody quick if you have the time. Thanks!

SLA Penny Drive

Hey Gang,

The SLA is having it's Annual Penny Drive again this year to earn some funds for paying for things related to the SLA (aka our website, the mess hall, etc). So I'm passing this information on to you fine people. Any questions, you can get a hold of Zania, the SLA's Finance Chair (zania@slasims.com). It's not required, but it's a thought.

Also, I'm still getting hit with projects left and right, but have a 5 day weekend coming up in a week or so. Will try writing something then or this weekend if I can, hw depending.

Later Gators!

Molly

Here's a copy of Zania's email.

It’s back by popular demand!

The SLA Penny Drive is a fundraising campaign that focuses on the one part of currency that is often overlooked . . . the penny. Sure, it may be only one cent, but when you start going through your pockets and putting all of them into a jar, it can really start to add up!

Here’s how the donation drive will work:

1) Starting today, and running through March 15th, collect all of your pennies (or other change) and put them into a jar at home. It doesn’t matter if it’s the spare change you have after going to eat, or if you find it between the cushions of your couch. Just throw them into the jar, and watch it build up.
2) On the 15th, take the jar to the bank and have the coins counted, and the money deposited to your account.
3) Once the funds have been deposited to your account, then make a donation in the amount of money you collected to the SLA Paypal account at finance@slasims.com
4) The winner will be announced on April 2nd (I was going to plan on April 1st, but some may think it’s an April Fools Joke :-P ) during a live chat event via IRC – and did I mention that there will be prizes for the top donators?

It’s that simple! Although I know there’s probably two questions that’ll pop up:

1) I live in another country. Can I still donate?

SURE! If you use Paypal, the funds will automatically be converted to US Dollars, no matter what your country’s currency is.

2) What if I don’t have a Paypal account?

That’s okay too! Contact Zania Ja’arda privately (zania@slasims.com) for information on how to send a personal check or money order. Your check or money order needs to arrive within 14 days after the collection period ends so it counts towards the Penny Drive.

Questions? Please don’t hesitate to contact me! Good luck, and hopefully you’ll be one of our prize winners for bringing in the top donation!
